1) The StoryPlus Network is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share, or rent this information in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement. StoryPlus collects information from users at several different points on our website.

2) If you purchase a story or elect to establish a credit account with us, we will require your name, e-mail address, mailing address, credit card number and credit card expiration date in order to process your purchase or create your account.

3) If you sign up for services like our newsletter or download certain software or plug-ins made available by StoryPlus through the site, we will require only an e-mail address in order to send you the requested information.

4) StoryPlus may use your navigation patterns and story purchasing preferences to shape recommendations about stories and other products and services that might be of interest to you. StoryPlus also monitors customer traffic patterns and site usage to help develop the design and layout of the site.

5) StoryPlus may use the information collected to notify you occasionally about important functional changes to the web site, new services and special offers we believe might be of interest to you. If you prefer not to receive this information should go to My Account, select My Subscriptions and change your preferences. 6) StoryPlus works with certain companies that, in conjunction with their own membership programs or rewards programs, disclose purchasing information about customers who (a) visit the StoryPlus.com site through links from the partner sites, or (b) use the partner’s credit card to make purchases on the StoryPlus.com site (e.g., to earn points for purchased made on the StoryPlus.com site through links from the partner site.) The only information disclosed by StoryPlus is that which is required to make these programs work and support your membership with them. 7) We use IP addresses to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movements, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifying information.

To safeguard your personal information, StoryPlus uses industry standard encryption technology. All information given when making a purchase or establishing an account with us, including your name, address, and credit card number, is encrypted using a secure server. Our technology is designed to be certain your credit card and billing information cannot be read as it travels to our database system. Once we receive your credit card information, we store it on a server that is not accessible from the Internet. Credit card transactions are handled by a third-party financial institution which receives the credit card number and other personal identifying information only to verify the credit card number and to process transactions.

StoryPlus is committed to complying fully with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 to the extent that it is applicable. Personal information is only gathered from StoryPlus Members. In order to become a StoryPlus Member, you must have a credit card. Therefore children under 13 cannot become StoryPlus Members, nor can they insert personal information without the consent of a parent or guardian. A parent or guardian can choose to add a child to their account (create a sub-account), but this allows the parent to control and monitor the personal information they give out to StoryPlus and also allows them to monitor which stories the child can purchase from the site. When a sub-account is created and credited by a parent, the parent must choose a unique password for that child. Only by entering that password will the child be able to use his/her credit to purchase stories. StoryPlus encourages parents to spend time online with their children and to participate in the activities offered by the site. No information should be submitted to or posted at StoryPlus by visitors under 13 years of age without the consent of a parent or guardian. Unless otherwise disclosed during collection, StoryPlus does not provide any personally identifying information, regardless of its source, to any third party for any purpose whatsoever from visitors under 13 years of age. No information collected from visitors under 13 years of age is used for any marketing or promotional purposes whatsoever, either inside or outside StoryPlus except as explicitly stated during registration for contests or promotions (and in that case, the information collected is used only for the specific contest or promotion).

Although visitors under 13 years of age are allowed to participate in some contests and promotions, if such a visitor wins, notification and prizes will be sent to the parent or guardian identified in the initial registration process. StoryPlus will not condition a child's participation in any activity on that child disclosing more personally identifying information than is reasonable to administer that activity. Publication of names, ages, or images for contest winners under 13 require parental or guardian consent. Once the contests or promotions are completed, any personal information held is deleted.

We do not allow visitors under 13 years of age to be listed in our customer directory or to receive direct marketing communications from StoryPlus or to be sent third-party offers.

This will take you to the My Profile page. Here you can change or update your e-mail address and password, billing address, payment options, and general preferences. Then click Enter to save your change. Similarly, to unsubscribe from the StoryPlus newsletter,modify an email address, or to remove or change any subscription, simply go to My Account and then to the My Subscriptions web page.

This website takes every precaution to protect our user information. When users submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and off-line.
When our registration/order form asks users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry - SSL. While on a secure page, such as our order form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when you are just 'surfing'.
